Championship Soccer Drills
Summary and who it is suitable for: This is the best video we've seen for soccer drills and practice games that will work indoors or outdoors for beginning to intermediate coaches, and we've watched over 150 soccer coaching tapes and DVD's. It is suitable for beginning to intermediate coaches of Recreational teams ages U-9 to U-14 or select teams ages U-8 to U-12. Over 40 drills and games are demonstrated. It moves along quickly, is clear, practical and well organized. About 50% of the drills shown can be played as games and many are very good. The games are similar to SoccerHelp Practice Games in many ways. In most cases the activity level is high and standing in lines is minimized. The video also has excellent demonstrations of how to teach heading, of 3 different ways to turn, of shooting, and of 5 soccer moves (the "Matthews Move", "Single Scissors", "Double Scissors", "Step Over" and the "Maradona Move"). Coach Jansen offers tips at the end. Bart Jansen played professional soccer, is an "A" licensed coach and trained in the US, Germany and Italy. This was filmed in New Jersey USA and the players demonstrating the drills and games appear to be age 11 or 12. It is recommended by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association.
