There are a number of misunderstandings about what the referee calls, or does not call. Young players and referees explain and clarify some of the common misconceptions and myths. Sections include:
Handball- Did the hand play the ball? Was it deliberate?
Offside- Offside position and active involvement in play have to be considered when a player should be penalized for offside
Dangerous Play- 'Playing the ball on the ground', 'high kick', and 'showing the cleats' are examined to determine when they should or should not be considered dangerous play.
Throw-In- Throw-Ins are explained and how common misunderstandings lead to confusion about what is a legal throw-in.
Goalkeeper- Goalkeepers are afforded special privileges. However, there are certain things that they can and cannot do.
