⚽ NUCS AA Coach Tryout Procedures – 2025/2026
For NUCS AA coaches only (not affiliated with any other club/team).
Do NOT attend if you already have a full team.
Do NOT have your players attend.
Recruiting Warning: If you are not with NUCS and speak to players at these tryouts, it is a recruiting violation. Photos will be taken, and violators will be reported to the state.

📝 BEFORE TRYOUTS
  1. Coach Check-In
    • Visit the coach registration booth.
    • If not registered online, fill out your info at the desk — and please register online that night via the Registration tab on the NUCS website.
  2. Coach Briefing
    • Attend the mandatory coach’s meeting before tryouts begin.
    • Listen for announcements (usually someone shouting about the meeting).

👀 OBSERVE & EVALUATE
  1. Player Evaluation
    • Players will participate in agility tests, shooting, defending, small-sided games, and possibly a training session. Player evaluations are run by trainers, not by the coach’s present.
    • Take notes throughout.
  2. Player Ranking
    • Record each player's pinny number and color (e.g., Blue38).
    • Rank players by preference — and make a long list in case others select your top picks.
    • Wristband colors represent the city the player lives in — select players near your area when possible.

🗂️ THE DRAFT
  1. End of Tryout
    • Once all exercises and scrimmages are complete, tryouts end.
  2. Draft Meeting
    • Coaches or representatives gather at the coach station (or other designated location) for the draft.
  3. Draft Order Selection
    • Each coach draws a numbered card (1–12) to determine draft order.
    • Card colors indicate order: Red > Yellow > Blue.
  4. Draft Rounds
    • Round 1: All teams draft in number order.
    • Rounds 2 & 3:
      • Only new teams or teams needing to fill 50%+ of roster pick players.
      • These teams select up to 1/3 of needed players per round in the same draft order.
    • Rounds 4+: All teams draft again in the same order as Round 1 until rosters are full or players are gone.
  5. Report Your Selections
    • Email your draft picks that night to both:
      • [email protected]
      • [email protected]
  6. Contact Info Distribution
    • The league will email you player contact info within 48 hours.
    • Ensure your email and phone number are correct on your registration form or online profile.

📞 POST-DRAFT FOLLOW-UP
  1. Player Contact
    • Contact each player selected and inform them they’ve been chosen for your team.
  2. Deadline to Notify Players
    • All selected players must be contacted no later than Sunday after tryouts.
    • Players are told that no contact by Sunday means they were not selected and should register for Challenger League.
  3. No Recruiting at Tryouts
    • Do not ask players or parents for contact info.
    • This is a recruiting violation. All contact details will be provided by the league.
