NUCS AA Tryouts

2026–2027 Season

Tryouts will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 and Thursday, May 21, 2026, depending on age group.

NOTE: these dates are final and are changed from previously posted dates.

Location: Mountain Ridge Jr. High — Inside Track

Important: Please only attend AA tryouts if your player intends to play for NUCS AA and is not planning to accept a roster spot with another club. WHY DO WE SAY THIS? Frankly, because other clubs charge a lot of money, and they have decided to take everyone that shows up so that they can make more money. Thus, if you go, you will be a team. Crazy thing is, most of our AA teams can beat many of the "club" teams. We will put everybody who attends tryouts on a team, but it is for your child to play, not for us to make money.
Important: If you cannot attend tryouts but would still like to be on an AA team, please complete the tryout preregistration. There is a question during registration that allows us to know to find a team for you but you will not be there.

Pre-Registration Required

Players must pre-register before attending tryouts. Please complete registration at least 3 hours before your scheduled tryout time.

Please only attend AA tryouts if you are committed to playing for NUCS AA.

If your player is actively trying out for other clubs or planning to accept a roster spot elsewhere, we ask that you do not register for NUCS AA tryouts. Why? please see the "Important" section above.

Current AA Players

If Not Selected for AA

Players not selected are encouraged to register for Challenger.

Our goal is to find a team for every player.

If you do not hear back right away, please don’t be discouraged. Due to the number of players, placements can take time.

When will I hear back?
  • Initial offers: within a few days
  • Additional placements: over 1–3 weeks

Challenger fees will transfer 100% to AA if placed later.

New Age Group Change

Beginning with the 2026–2027 season, age groups are based on an August 1 – July 31 age-year instead of the old calendar-year model.

This means your player’s tryout age group may be different from their current team age group. Please use the chart above when choosing your tryout time.

What is District or AA?

District Competition, also called AA, is NUCS’s first level of competition soccer.

AA is one of the most popular competition programs in the county because it offers a step above recreation while still being run locally by a group of leagues. This allows more flexibility for teams, coaches, and families with scheduling, game locations, and fees.

AA is more competitive than Challenger/Recreation and is available for players ages 8–18. Teams are formed through an annual draft in May, and games are played in Utah County.

Teams typically have 1–2 games per week and 1–2 practices per week. Some AA teams also choose to play together on indoor teams during the winter.

The cost is typically between $180 and $230, depending on the age group and referee fees. This includes a 7–8 game fall season and a 6–7 game spring season, followed by an end-of-season tournament.
