Coach’s AA Tryout Steps for 2026/2027

North Utah County Soccer

Important: These tryouts are for AA coaches of North Utah County Soccer whose teams are not associated with another club, organization, or team.
If you are not affiliated with NUCS and speak to players at our tryouts, it is considered a recruiting violation. Photos may be taken, and violations may be reported to the state.
  1. Check In at the Coach Registration Booth
    If you did not register online, please complete your information at the registration desk. Online registration is strongly encouraged because it is easier to read and allows us to contact you more efficiently.
  2. Attend the Coaches’ Briefing
    Important instructions and draft information will be provided before tryouts begin.
  3. Observe Players During Evaluations
    Players may participate in agility drills, shooting, defending exercises, small-sided games, and training activities.
  4. Record Player Pinny Numbers
    Example: Blue 38
    Be sure to include the pinny color and create a strong ranking list in case your top selections are drafted by another team.
  5. Player Evaluations Conclude
    Once all drills and scrimmages are complete, the player evaluation portion of tryouts will end.
  6. Coaches Meet for the Draft
    Coaches or their representatives will gather at the coaches’ station to begin the draft process.
  7. Draft Order Selection
    Coaches will draw numbered cards to determine draft order.
  8. Draft Process
    Teams will continue drafting players according to the established order until rosters are filled or all available players have been selected.

  10. Player Contact Information
    The league will provide player contact information, typically within 48 hours. Please ensure your registration includes the correct email address and phone number.
  11. Contact Selected Players Quickly
    Coaches should contact selected players and families as soon as possible following the draft.
  12. Unselected Players
    Players who are not contacted by Sunday following tryouts should assume they were not selected and may register for the Challenger League.
  13. Recruiting Violations
    Recruiting or attempting to obtain player contact information during tryouts is prohibited.
  14. Registration Information

  15. League Registrar
    Nathan Hill will be available to assist with player and team registration questions.

Important Reminder

Players are not required to join a team that drafts them. Factors such as location, practice schedules, and personal preference may influence their decision.

Coaches are encouraged to keep detailed notes and maintain an extensive ranking list throughout tryouts.

Some players may also request to remain together as a group or package during the draft process.
