Our competition teams for U9 and U10 use what is called a build out line. Because some of our coach's coach in challenger and competition and the same for referees, there has been some confusion. We haven't been using the build out line so much in u9 and u10 challenger. Starting October 5, 2024. We will use the same rules for the build out line. So, no drop kicks.
Summary:
Summary:
- Location: The build-out line is typically positioned halfway between the penalty area and the center circle.
- Purpose: Its main goal is to encourage teams to play the ball out from the back rather than relying on long kicks from the goalkeeper. This helps develop players' passing and teamwork skills.
- Rules for Play:
- When the goalkeeper makes a save or a goal kick is taken, the opposing team must retreat behind the build-out line.
- The goalkeeper CANNOT drop kick
- The goalkeeper may throw, roll, or place the ball on the ground and kick it. He/she cannot touch it again until someone else kicks it.
- The goalkeeper isn't required to play the ball until the opposing players are behind the line, promoting a more controlled restart. However, the goalkeeper can choose to play the ball before the other team is behind the line.
- Players cannot head the ball
- Restarting Play: Once the ball is played by the goalkeeper and crosses the build-out line, normal play resumes, and both teams can engage fully.
