✅UYSA Required Certificates for Club coach's

All Coach's and Assistant Coach's must complete the following certifications:
  1. SafeSport Training
    • New Users: Create an account at SafeSport Trained
    • Existing Users: Log in and reset your password if necessary.
    • Note: Certificates completed in the current year are valid through the following spring season.
  2. Concussion Training
    • Choose one of the following UYSA-approved courses:
      • CDC Heads Up
      • NFHS Concussion Course
    • Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.
    • Requirement: Must be completed annually before participating in practices and games.

📤 Uploading Certificates: Upload your certificates to your profile using one of the following methods:
  • Method 1 Sports Connect ( https://leagues.bluesombrero.com/northutahcountysoccer)
    1. Log in to your account
    2. Click on Volunteer tab on the left
    3. Click on the checkbox of the Certificate you want, press renew or update
    4. A new window will open where you can upload your certificate.

🎓 Coaching License Requirements

All coaches must hold the appropriate license for their coaching position.

License Types
  • USSF D License: Required to be a head coach for U14–U19 Premier 1 and 2 levels.
  • Grassroots Licenses: Allows coaching competitive teams in any age group or play level, except head coach in U14–U19 Premier 1 and 2 levels.
    • 11v11 (in-person)
    • 9v9 (in-person)
    • 7v7 (in-person)
  • Waivers:
    • Spring Waiver: Valid for one season only; no extensions.
    • Fall Waiver: Valid for one season only; no extensions.

Note: Team managers are not required to have a coaching license.
Steps for Coaches Without a License
  1. Create or log into your account in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.
  2. Complete the free 20-minute "Introduction to Grassroots" course (a prerequisite for other courses).
  3. Complete one online Grassroots course relevant to your team's age group (7v7, 9v9, or 11v11; $25 fee).
    • Note: The 4v4 online course does not qualify a coach for the competition gaming league.
  4. Register for the waitlist of two corresponding in-person Grassroots courses hosted by the same entity.
    • Each course costs $60, totaling $120.
    • If no courses are available, join the notification list to receive an email when registration opens.

Applying for a Coaching Waiver: If you have not completed the required Grassroots course or signed up for an available course, you need to apply for a waiver:
  1. Complete the "Introduction to Grassroots" course in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.
  2. Pay the $25 U.S. Soccer Grassroots License waiver fee here.
  3. Complete the License Waiver Application.
  4. Email the completed application to Jenni Breckenridge at [email protected].
    • Allow 48 business hours for processing.
    • There is no need to send a copy of the certificate.
